University of Lagos Notable Alumni


Since its inception in 1962, the University of Lagos (UNILAG for short) has been one of the most sought-after tertiary institutions in the country. UNILAG has a rich cultural atmosphere and provides its students with lots of different experiences, both academic and non-academic.

This aura, combined with the school administration, has trained and molded a number of brilliant minds over the years who went on to become significant individuals in their professions and the society at large. The varsity has a lot of notable alumni in different sector of the economy.

  1. Pastor Enoch Adeboye- the general overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God worldwide.
  2. Wale Adenuga- a veteran cartoonist/publisher in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. He is known for the TV series Ikebe Super, Binta and Super Story.
  3. Tayo Aderinokun- Ex CEO of Guaranty Trust bank. He is now deceased.
  4. Mercy Aigbe Gentry- a popular actress, movie director and businesswoman.
  5. Funke Akindele- popularly known as Jenifa, named after the movie and TV series. She won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2009.
